About the Artist
Alan John Booth
Alan J Booth is an artist, illustrator, and storyteller from Derbyshire, England, whose creative life has spanned more than six decades. A former engineer with Rolls-Royce and Rotherham Valley Engineering, Alan brings the same precision and craftsmanship from his engineering days into his artwork and writing.
A lifelong lover of nature, the countryside, and classic adventure tales, Alan combines these passions in The Blue John Chronicles — a richly illustrated story rooted in the hills, old paths, farms, and hidden places of Derbyshire, where local landscape and legend spark adventure and mystery.
Working in both traditional and digital mediums, Alan creates atmospheric illustrations that celebrate woodland, wildlife, and rural life. He shares his work through ArtGate / Artgate and continues to develop The Blue John Chronicles as a lasting legacy for readers who love adventure, wonder, and heart — still at home, creating and enjoying everyday life with his wife, Janice.
